Balos Beach Hotel Review: Sea & Mountain Views Hotel Near Balos Lagoon, Crete

As a sea lover, I always prefer hotels with sea views because opening the curtains to blue water in the morning always gives me a good mood to start a perfect holiday.

For this trip, I also wanted to stay in a hotel near 🔗Balos Lagoon in order to save time on transportation and fully enjoy the hike and the beach. That’s why I chose Balos Beach Hotel and was satisfied with it, I’d rate it 9/10.

Below is my detailed review of the hotel.

I’m happy to say that 🔗Balos Beach Hotel was a great find for the trip, as it’s located only 9km away from Balos Beach. In addition, Kissamos town center is just a few minutes drive away, where you can find several restaurants and shops.

What’s more, it takes only about 45 minutes to reach Chania City Center, which is very convenient to visit if you are going to come here right after you arrive in Chania or before departing from the city. For us, our last night in Crete Island was at Balos Beach Hotel, and it was easy to drive to the airport in Chania the next day.

For the restaurant in Kissamos town, I highly recommend Grambousa Restaurant. It is a cute traditional restaurant that serves amazing Creten food. While you are tasting their delicious local food, you can also enjoy the sea view and live music! The views at Balos Beach Hotel were one of my favorite parts of the stay. From the room, restaurant, and pool, you get stunning views of the ocean and mountains. I never get tired of looking at it. 

We stayed in the 🔗Superior Sea View Studio, with wide sea and mountain views right in front of our big windows, making both stepping into the room and waking up each morning extra delightful.

At the back of the hotel, there’s another lovely view — mountain with goats and sheep walking freely, added the authentic Greek rural vibe to the whole experience.

We visited in May and were treated to an unexpected view- the mountain peaks were still covered with snow, which made the whole view even more stunning and unique. I really loved it.

The hotel offers an outdoor infinity pool, 24-hour reception, clean room, a nice bar and dining area with sea view. 

Our 🔗Superior Sea View Studio even has full kitchen equipment for people who want to cook. 

The bathroom was spacious, featuring a separate dressing area and a big shower space. 

Everything in the room was clean, nice-designed, and comfortable to use.

If you book the Superior Suite or Exclusive Suite with Private Pool, you will even have a private pool for yourself. 

Moreover, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. When we checked out, they even gave us a gift bag with bottles of Cretan local olive oil as a parting gift.
