For each attraction, you will find ratings for the views, and for those that involve a hike, you will also see ratings for trail uniqueness and difficulty, along with the hiking distance and estimated time.

At the end of this guide I will share several Grampians tour options to match different travel preferences, so you can choose one that best fits your style.

Grampians attraction 1: Pinnacle Lookout

Pinnacle Lookout Grampians

🔗Pinnacle Lookout is one of the most popular places to go in Grampians National Park, with incredible panoramic views. While the hiking trail going there can be challenging, the views at the top are totally rewarding.

Pinnacle Lookout ratings

Here are the ratings for Pinnacle Lookout in the Grampians, covering the view, trail uniqueness, and hike difficulty, to help you decide whether it’s worth the effort for you.

1. Pinnacle Lookout view

Rating: 8.5/10

Grampians National Park Pinnacle Lookout

At the top of the Pinnacle Walk is Pinnacle Lookout, where the view is absolutely breathtaking. From above, you can have a close look at Lake Bellfield, Halls Gap town and other magnificent mountains in the Grampians National Park.

2. Pinnacle walk trail uniqueness

Rating: 8.5/10

According to information we got from our accommodations in Grampians- Breeze Holiday Park Grampians, there are three different trails to choose for hiking up to Pinnacle Lookout.

You can find the distance and hiking time for each route at the section below.

We took the route from Wonderland Carpark, passing through the unique landscape- Grand Canyon and Silent Street, which I really love. The trail is mostly rocky terrain, giving the whole hike a really unique feel.

3. Pinnacle walk trail difficulty (Wonderland Carpark route)

I’d rate it 6 out of 10, but for 4 other people in our group with different fitness levels they all rated it differently. You can 🔗read this article to get the details about it.

Pinnacle Walk distance & hiking time (return trip)

Route Starting PointDistance (return trip)Hiking Duration
Halls Gap9.6 kmAbout 5 hours (most challenging)
Sundial Carpark4.2 km1.5–2 hours (easiest option)
Wonderland Carpark4.2 km2–3 hours (includes Grand Canyon & Silent Street)

While the official tourism board said it takes 2-3 hours for the Wonderland Carpark Route, it took us around 3.5 hours to complete the whole walk.

For more details about the Pinnacle walk, including our real hiking experience and photos from the Wonderland Carpark route, you 🔗can read this article.

Grampians attraction 2: Reed Lookout

Reed Lookout Grampians National Park
Reed Lookout Grampians National Park

Reed Lookout is one of the easiest viewpoints to reach in the Grampians National Park, offering wide open views without needing a hike.

Reed Lookout ratings

Below are the ratings for Reed Lookout, Grampians, covering the view, trail uniqueness, and how easy it is to get there, so you can decide whether to include it in your itinerary.

1. Reed Lookout view

Rating: 7/10

Grampians National Park Reed Lookout photo
Grampians National Park Reed Lookout

The view at Reed Lookout is totally different from The Pinnacle, you will get to see Moora Moora Reservoir, layers of mountains and vast landscape that is so quiet and open, it feels almost unreal.

2. Reed Lookout trail uniqueness

There’s no hiking required to get to Reed Lookout, it’s only a short path going there from the carpark, so I’d rate it 0/10.

3. Reed Lookout trail difficulty

Reed Lookout is just 2 minutes walk from the carpark, no hiking needed. So, I’d rate the difficulty of visiting Reed Lookout as 0 out of 10. It can be an easy stop if you want to enjoy the view here.

Grampians attraction 3: The Balconies (The Jaws of Death)

Grampians The Balconies (The Jaws of Death) photo
Grampians The Balconies (The Jaws of Death) left side

The Balconies, also called The Jaws of Death, is a famous Grampians lookout known for its panoramic views and the dramatic rock formation that looks like a giant open mouth. It shares the same car park as Reed Lookout, so most travellers visit both. If you are happy to take a walk, you won’t regret going to The Balconies Lookout.

The Balconies ratings

Here, we break down The Balconies walk with ratings for the views, trail uniqueness, and difficulty, so you can see if it’s worth adding to your Grampians trip.

1. The Balconies view

Rating: 7.5/10

VIew from The Balconies walk (The Jaws of Death) Grampians
VIew from The Balconies (The Jaws of Death) right side

Scenery at The Balconies Lookout is slightly similar to Reed Lookout, but only The Balconies Lookout can see the Jaws of Death rock. And on the right side there’s a huge rock with an edge that looks like the Pinnacle lookout and like a scene from The Lion King—the part where Rafiki holds Simba up.

2. The Balconies trail uniqueness

The trail to The Balconies Lookout is mostly flat, with some bush flowers and trees along the way. You will pass a viewpoint with views of Lake Wartook, but otherwise the path isn’t particularly remarkable like what Pinnacle offers, so I’d rate it 4/10.

3. The Balconies trail difficulty

The Balconies takes a bit of a walk, but the trail is flat and easy, so I’d rate the difficulty 1 out of 10.

The Balconies Walk distance & hiking time (return trip)

The Balconies walk return trip is an only 2.2 km easy path, and took us 1.5 hours in total- 40 minutes from the carpark to The Balconies Lookout, about 20 minutes enjoying the view and taking photos, and a 30 minutes walk back to the car park.

Grampians attraction 4: Mackenzie Falls

Mackenzie Falls bottom
Mackenzie Falls bottom

According to Visit Grampians, 🔗Mackenzie Falls is one of Victoria’s largest waterfalls and a popular place to go in Grampians National Park. If you are into waterfalls, Mackenzie Falls is one of the highlights you won’t want to miss.

Mackenzie Falls ratings

Here is the rating for Mackenzie Falls walk on views, trail uniqueness, and difficulty so you know what to expect before visiting.

1. Mackenzie Falls view

Rating: 6.5/10

To be fair, the view at Mackenzie Falls deserves a higher rating, it’s stunning and surrounded by lush greenery. But as someone from Taiwan, where waterfalls are everywhere, this one didn’t feel that unique to me. Still, if you love exploring waterfalls, it’s definitely worth a visit when you are in Grampians National Park.

2. Mackenzie Falls trail uniqueness

Rating: 6/10

The trail down to the base of Mackenzie Falls passes through lush greenery, and offers different perspectives & parts of the waterfall along the way. We even spotted a wallaby right at the start!

3. Mackenzie Falls trail difficulty

Although the Mackenzie Falls walk is short and not particularly difficult, I’d still rate the hike difficulty a 3 out of 10 because of the 260 rock steps each way, meaning you will do around 520 steps on the return trip. Some parts are a bit steep too.

It wasn’t the easiest path, but we took our time and managed it.

Be aware that, if it’s raining, the rocks can get slippery, so take it slow and be extra careful.

Mackenzie Falls walk distance & hiking time (return trip)

Mackenzie Falls walk is about a 2km return trip, and took us about almost 2 hours.

From the car park, it took me 30 minutes to walk to the base of the Mackenzie Falls. But as usual, we were taking photos, enjoying the view on the way. We also stayed around the base of the Mackenzie Falls for a while. So if you just want to have a quick visit, it shouldn’t take too long.

Grampians attraction 5: Boroka Lookout

View from Boroka Lookout Grampians National Park

🔗Boroka Lookout is one of the easiest ones to access in the Grampians National Park, and also the most breathtaking one. The view is similar to the Pinnacle Lookout, but with slightly different angle. If you don’t want to hike up to the Pinnacle Lookout, then you must visit this one!!!

Boroka Lookout ratings

Here are my ratings for Boroka Lookout, including the views, the uniqueness and difficulty of the trail.

1. Boroka Lookout view

Rating: 8.5/10

Boroka Lookout offers a similar view to the Pinnacle, closer to Halls Gap but further away from Lake Bellfield. The view is indescribably beautiful when the sky is clear. We even saw double rainbows here after waiting for 10 mins for the strom to pass. I highly recommend you to come here.

2. Boroka Lookout trail uniqueness

The path to Boroka Lookout is just a simple man-made walkway, nothing particularly special, so I’d rate it 0/10.

3. Boroka Lookout trail difficulty

Boroka Lookout is the easiest lookout to go in the Grampians. 2 lookout spots here are literally just 2 minutes walk from the carpark and the public toilet. There’s not much effort needed once you reach the car park. So I’d rate the difficulty as 0 out of 10.

Zero hiking, breathtaking views, how good is that? If your itinerary can only fit limited places to go in Grampians National Park, let Boroka be one of them!

Grampians attraction 6: Halls Gap

Grampians Halls Gap wild kangaroos
Wild kangaroos at Grampians Halls Gap

Halls Gap in Grampians National Park is where you can find lots of hotels and accommodations as well as some restaurants and shops. The Halls Gap and Grampians Visitor Information Centre is also located here. Pretty much all tourists who visit Grampians need to come here for the above things.

Also you will have great chances to see wild kangaroos gathering here. We even saw a group of kangaroos crossing the road on the zebra at night, what a surprise! So crazy!

Grampians attraction 7: Brambuk National Park and Cultural Centre

There is an aboriginal museum in Grampians, where it showcases rock arts and cultures of the aboriginals in the Grampians.

I really wanted to visit here but we didn’t manage to visit because each hike took us longer than normal people. If you get time, go check it out!

For a group of people

Since private tours are relatively more expensive, they are best suited for groups traveling with friends or family, where the cost can be shared.

If you’re considering a private option, Andrew from Southeast Touring is a great choice. He offers fully customisable private tours, allowing you to select the Great Ocean Road and Grampians attractions you’d like to visit and work with him to create an itinerary that fits your schedule and interests. For a full review of a private tour with him, you can 🔗check this article.

Grampians National Park Hotel and accommodation recommendation

Grampians National Park accomodation Breeze Holiday Parks Grampians
Grampians National Park accomodation Breeze Holiday Parks Grampians

Accommodation options in the Grampians are relatively limited, with most hotels, cabins concentrated around Halls Gap.

I highly recommend 🔗Breeze Holiday Parks (Grampians), where we stayed during our trip. They offer a range of cabin options suitable for different group sizes. Since we were traveling as a family, we chose the Deluxe Family Cabin, which worked perfectly for us.

It offered a clean, cozy & cute cabin with 2 bedrooms, a little living room, a fully equipped kitchen and both AC and heating. It’s not huge but has everything you need. And the price is fair, I highly recommend it.

You can compare the price 🔗on this platform and 🔗this site. Both offer great discounts sometimes!

If you want to stay right in Halls Gap town centre, within walking distance to restaurants and shops, 🔗Breeze Holiday Park Halls Gap is another great option. Plus, you can often spot wild kangaroos around Halls Gap.

One important note: for both locations, make sure to book the deluxe option. Based on our experience, the deluxe rooms were great, while the budget ones tend to have negative reviews online.

Restaurant recommendations in Grampians National Park

For restaurants and food, I recommend Pizza at 🔗Town Fryer Fish & Chips Pizza Bar . It is surprisingly good, cheesy, full of flavour and not dry at all.

You can also try some pastries 🔗here. The Spinach & Feta cheese, steak & mushroom, steak & bacon flavours pies are all approved by us!
