Is it worth going to The Balconies and Reed Lookout in Grampians?
Yes, it is absolutely worth visiting The Balconies and Reed Lookout. And since Reed Lookout and The Balconies share the same car park, it’s super easy to visit both at once.
There are quite a few lookouts in Grampians National Park. While Pinnacle Lookout and Boroka Lookout are, in my opinion, the most breathtaking, The Balconies and Reed Lookout offer completely different perspectives of the Grampians. Their views and angles are unique, and also beautiful.
Plus, The Balconies is where the rock formation that looks like a giant mouth of a beast, giving it the nickname “The Jaws of Death.” It looks incredibly cool and is one of the main reasons this lookout is so popular. It is also a recommended sunset spot. Our tour guide told us that visitors used to be able to access the “jaw” area but you can’t access it anymore. Just enjoying the view from the lookout itself is worth going anyway.
But, if you don’t have much time for Grampians, I’d suggest going for Pinnacle Lookout and Boroka Lookout, or maybe add Reed Lookout(only need about 10 mins to enjoy the view), without taking the walk to The Balconies.

Grampians National Park Hotel and accommodation recommendation

Accommodation options in the Grampians are relatively limited, with most hotels, cabins concentrated around Halls Gap.
I highly recommend 🔗Breeze Holiday Parks (Grampians), where we stayed during our trip. They offer a range of cabin options suitable for different group sizes. Since we were traveling as a family, we chose the Deluxe Family Cabin, which worked perfectly for us.
It offered a clean, cozy & cute cabin with 2 bedrooms, a little living room, a fully equipped kitchen and both AC and heating. It’s not huge but has everything you need. And the price is fair, I highly recommend it.
You can compare the price 🔗on this platform and 🔗this site. Both offer great discounts sometimes!
If you want to stay right in Halls Gap town centre, within walking distance to restaurants and shops, 🔗Breeze Holiday Park Halls Gap is another great option. Plus, you can often spot wild kangaroos around Halls Gap.
One important note: for both locations, make sure to book the deluxe option. Based on our experience, the deluxe rooms were great, while the budget ones tend to have negative reviews online.
Restaurant recommendations in Grampians National Park
For restaurants and food, I recommend Pizza at 🔗Town Fryer Fish & Chips Pizza Bar . It is surprisingly good, cheesy, full of flavour and not dry at all.
You can also try some pastries 🔗here. The Spinach & Feta cheese, steak & mushroom, steak & bacon flavours pies are all approved by us!
